How will I know which dvd player is capable of doing this? I've seen that although some say they play multiple formats, they won't play burned dvds. Which program can I use to burn dvds if roxio isn't enough? Thanks for any info.

  1. The DVD player should play a burnt DVD, especially a current model.  Be sure the DVD is burnt as a DVD video and finalized.  The multiple format refers to the many different formats available for a recordable DVD, so I'd believe the recorded disc should play.

Another factor that could prevent a recorded disc from playing is improper encoding of the DVD or one that was encoded in PAL format while the player is NTSC.

  2. You might want to check your dvd' instruction manual to see what dvds it can play. The more expensive dvd players you can buy, the more quality and formats of discs it can play. I would reccomend if they don't work on your dvd player. i would buy a dvd recorder because they play every format . but thats if u buy a decent one and not a cheap tesco one. I recommend a Phillips or Sony. I have a Phillips and it plays everything. even foreign NTSC and PAL region 1 dvds.

    I hope this helps.
