  1. Yes

  2. Do you mean a bundle of Red/White/Yellow cables?

    NO.

Video cables are made with 75 ohm coax. But the audio wires (red/white) are often made with 50 ohm coax.

Radio Shack used to sell their red/white/yellow cables that were identical to their component cables, but once people caught onto this fact - they changed the cables so the audio cables are different.

Some other brands may use 3 video cables for the Left/Right/Video - but it's a gamble.

  3. Yes and NO

An AV cable will give you picture, but it carries the whole picture signal on one cable.

A component cable splits up the colour signals to YPbPr, meaning the signals won't interfere with each other, resulting in better picture quality, whith the advantage to carry full 1920x1080 HD resolution. (S-Video and RGB also do this)

So... Component is better quality and can carry HD, but is more expensive, but so worth it!!!

  4. yes  a/v simply means audio-video  the audio is a stranded and vidio is solid wire

  5. Yes, I do all it the time...

  6. Yes, with two minor considerations:

You need three such cables for a complete component connection.

Some of the cheaper audio cables are thin and therefore have higher capacitance than do cables for high bandwidth video signals.  You may or may not notice some softening of detail if you use thin audio cables of appreciable length (8 feet or more)
