Hey, I'm thinking of starting a service program where I would go into hospitals, nursing homes, or cancer treatment facilities and I would read aloud to people (at their request). I think that this is a good idea but I still would like some input to see if you think that this would be helpful or comforting?

  1. Yes, it would be helpful and comforting.  Many places are looking for people who would volunteer to do just that.  Another suggestion would be to offer to write letters for them or be willing to read their mail.

Just be prepared to have to have a background check done.  Almost every place today is required to do this for anyone who volunteers in their facility.

  2. I think that is an absolutely wonderful idea.  It doesn't need to be just reading - many would just want somebody to talk to, and pass the time with.  May God bless you, and make your time fruitful.
