Question:

Would a sheet look silly sewn on top of a bedspread?

I bought a new bedspread less than a month ago, and I no longer like it!

The bedspread: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_096C6220000B?mv=cf&vName=For+the+Home&cName=Ty+Pennington

The beadspread looks beautiful in the picture (and in the bright store lighting) but in my room the aqua looks very grey.

I have so many favorite colors and my tastes change often so I thought maybe I could sew a multi-colored pattern sheet on the other side, so that when I got tired of the beadspread, I could just flip over to the other colors.

I am painting my walls too, and originally (to match my bedspread) wanted to paint them orange. Now I am completely reconsidering and thought I'd paint them a nearly-white aqua shade and polka-dot other paint colors.

So questions:

1) Would a sheet look silly sewn on top of a bedspread?

2) What are other ideas to change my bedspread without buying a new one?

3) How could I polka-dot my walls easily?

4) What are other ideas to add more colors to my walls?

  1. 1. no, as long as its put on right (i would ask a professional to do it or else it may not come out the way you'd like it) :)

2.flip it over, otherwise no other ideas lol

    3. get a round object like a flat sponge or styrofoam circle the size of how big you want the polka dots and then all you have to do is dip it in paint and voila!

    4. polka dots in different colors, different colored walls

  2. I love your creativity...no fear!!

we (my family) have taken sheets and sewn the edges along the bedspread....and then take yarn (or a ribbon), in a color you like, and pass it through both layers (each at about a foot apart, in each direction--across the whole spread) with a hook and back again about 1/4 inch away from first hole, then tie and it leaves a "tassel". you could tie a button or beads to it for fun too, or metallic yarn.  You can also get batting, or quilt filler to put in between the bedspread and sheet to make it fluffier.

walls---you could get a dense foam and cut it into circles, glue it to a handle, and use it as a "stamp"...would be fun if different sizes.  if you used an iridescent glaze, they might look like bubbles.

---or you could stencil the circles on...all craft shops have these materials, or paint stores.

have fun--- when your done, you can do mine!!
