Question:

Would a shelter keep my cats alive?

My cats got ringworm and my dad gave them to the pound while I was gone to San Francisco. Is there any chance that they could still be alive? It's been 5 days.

  1. It really depends; if it was an ASPCA or Humane Society shelter your cats are fine and in good hands, but if it was a pound I'm sorry to say that your cats may have been killed because of over population. I'm so sorry I hope this didn't make you feel bad, because I know how it feels to lose a pet!

  2. ouch i don't know honestly. the only thing you can do is call tomorrow and ask them.  but be ready for either answer you might get.  how old are you...if you are 18 or older i would move out ASAP dad sounds too controlling for me.

i'm really really sorry.  this must be awful for you.

  3. Oh!  I'm so so sorry!!!

To be perfectly honest, depending on where your dad took them, they may not still be alive.  Ringworm is SO SO SO contagious and a shelter might not want to risk infecting the other cats or the shelter workers.

Hopefully though, if they have a good isolation ward, mom and kittens will be fine until they are old enough to be spayed and neutered then adopted.

Sorry to say, but your dad is a real piece of work.

  4. Yes a very good chance a cat gets about six months to be adopted and a kitten a year.
