Would a singularity be benevolent towards humans, or..?

Question

Would a computer AI which is capable of thoughts a human mind is incapable of be benevolent towards humanity? Would it try to help us in some strict moral manner, or would it's help be a bit overbearing by our standards (think "I, Robot.") It may see wiping us off the planet as the only solution (Skynet from Terminator), but then again my brain is limited. Anyone else's thoughts?
