    A nice smile does entail a nice, complete set of teeth but it does not completely emanate from the lips of someone.  Look inside for it is from a sincere and kind heart that a real smile springs forth.  Observe not just the lips but the eyes as well and you will see it.  Aren't the eyes often described as smiling?

    And yeah, I find a child's toothless smile endearing.  And my grandpa's toothless grin was just as adorable.

    Often, smiles with a tooth missing are the real ones. At least you know that person is really giving you a sincere smile cuz he had shown you that he's missing a tooth, lol.
