Would a specialist doctor or specialist dentist earn more money?

For example would an orthodontist or oral surgeon make more than a neurologist or cardiologist? Please make no reference to general dentists or physicians!!!

  1. it's not uncommon for a dental specialist to reach or exceed the level of a specialist MD.  actually, it's probably common for dental specialists to exceed internal medicine sub-specialties that you've mentioned.  i personally know an orthodontist who brings in $500k take-home pay and never works a night shift or weekend.  most dental specialists have desirable work conditions and lifestyles, while MD specialties can lead to unpleasant schedules and stress-levels.   there are some, however, that can lead to nice lifestyles, too.  you just really have to weigh out the options of what you want 5, 10, and even 20 years from now.  


  2. I think it would depend on whether you do private work or not.  I would assume that medical professionals have the potential to earn much more than dentists.
