have had a sprinkler watering the recently planted groundcover plants around a red bud tree and it has been blowing water on the tree for around 30 minutes or so every day, and have noticed the leaves looking very yellowed and drooping.

have scratched the limbs on the tree and they are still very green underneath, so was wondering if it is something to worry about or not.

why and how so in your opinion?

  1. Sounds like you're over watering the tree.

  2. too much water causes leaves to fall

  3. Overwatering will kill a tree

  4. Could it be this? Verticillium Wilt.

  5. Just a guess, but if the sprinkler is splashing the tree during direct sunlight, this would cause the problem.  If possible, use the sprinkler evenings only to minimise risk

  6. Is the water well or drinking water or reclaimed? Watering during the day also has a effect on the plants. And you are over watering not just the tree but everything. try watering only 2-3 times a week
