I'm starting to get sick. I have a sore throat and a little bit of a fever. Please don't tell me to go the doctor, because it's not that bad and I don't need any subscribed medicines to get better. Would a steam shower help my sore throat?

  1. Yes it will make it feel so much better trust me

  2. spoonful of honey or a hot lemon drink should control it

  3. No , It's not useful . Try to drink warm honey milk several times a day .

  4. No, only for stuffed up nose.

For a sore throat, take a glass of water with a teaspoon of salt in it and gargle for a minute or two. You can do this a few time a day... just don't swallow it. As well, you can have tea with honey in it.

For the fever, take a Tylenol.

    Warm fluids and rest.

  5. I have tonsillitis right now and I can tell you its NOT pretty. Do you have a runny nose or a cough? If so, it is a viral infection and it will pass on its own in a few days. You need to drink lots of water to help flush your system. If you don't have a cough or any other symptoms of a cold as such and it is only your throat and a fever then it is bacterial and you WILL need antibiotics. Tonsillitis is bacterial and if you look at your tonsils themselves, you will probably see pus filled things that look like blisters at the back of your throat. If this is the case, gargle some warm salt water and take regular paracetamol until you canget to a doctor. A hot shower will not give you any benefit other than relieving congestion. Hope this helps.

PS. If it is tonsillitis, DON'T put off getting a prescription. It is a nasty infection and it can last for anywhere between 4 and 12 days. The associated fever sometimes onset vomiting.

  6. If you are congested and coughing up gunk then it will help.

If its just sore, gargle with saltwater!

  7. No i think no drink cold water

  8. I had tonsillitis last week.

Here are some things that help a sore throat:

    - Gargling Betadine (consumer-available povidone-iodine)

    - Gargling Disprin and swallowing it too

    - Eating cold foods (e.g. Ice Cream. It provides short-term relief, and it's yummy too)

    - Taking any other strong pain relief like Panadene, or any other strong Paracetamol
