  1. A Cleveland steamer?

  2. Yes, it could.

  3. It COULD potentially set off the smoke detector but you would need a LOT of steam in close proximity to the detector. Smoke detectors work based on electricity passed over a short space between electrodes. If ANYTHING disrupts the current the alarm will sound. But since steam dissipates into the air so rapidly it makes it much less likely to set off the alarm. Where as smoke particles hang in the air much longer.

  4. As in food steamer??

I wouldnt have thought so.. as a steamer traps the steam inside the device, as the steam cooks the food.

  5. yes.

  6. No. Steamers should not set off a smoke detector unless the detector is intentionally covered. A clothing steamer should be fine to use without setting off your detector.  Happy steaming:))

  7. smoke detectors detect smoke only not even heat. steam will not set it off
