  1. Yeah it would give you a route except since planes don't follow roads, every time you would pass a road it would try to reroute, nonstop.

  3. I bet it wont. it depends if it can pick up the signal.

  4. Maybe. I have heard of people getting signals using handheld GPS receivers (woo-hoo 600mph!) but when I tried it I couldn't get a lock. Don't let the stewards see you.

    Edit: Granted it is only a receiver, but it would be best to ask first. Otherwise someone might overreact,  think "OMG a terrorist!", and next thing you know you are in a third-world country having your genitals jabbed with a cattle prod.
