That is any kind of job, as in retail, child care, receptionist or anything like that. OR what about a tattoo? Well thing is I am 35 and never had any of these and just would like to get one of them before I die. Just a thing with me. Been thinking about it for a while.

  1. Yes it will. It is seen as unprofessional and many employers stereotype people who have certain piercings or visible tattoos. While they shouldn't they still do and it would be unwise to get one especially at your age.. it will hurt your chances of getting job in the long run.

  2. Yes, yes, yes -- if you must put in a ring or get a tatoo do it where it will be totally covered up -- if you want to have a decent paying job you need to look and act professional (some of the most professional folks I've worked with - and I've worked with CEO's of major corporations - have been in the most menial jobs - I know toilet cleaners that are professional).  That means you have to look, talk and act like a trustworthy, responsible, long-term thinking, knowledgable person.  And face jewlery and tatoos will speak louder than what you have to say (think of the commercial with the guy with the talking stain on his shirt.)

  3. Anything artwork or piercings that are visible when you dress for the job (can't be easily covered or removed) will hurt your chances of getting most jobs. Bummer, eh?
