Would a video player in the USA accept a 'home' video from the UK?

I have a video that i would like to post to a friend in the States but not sure if it would play on her video player.

  1. if you want to post it to the internet, yes. people in the united states can watch videos that were shot in PAL.


  2. Depends what you mean by video player, if you mean VHS then the tape would have to be recorded in NTSC(Never twice the same colour) format, but a DVD recorded in DVD Video format should be OK.provided you make it Region 1 or Multi Region.

If it's a tape that you play in a VCR it's not going to work.  You could put it on a DVD though - have a look at the link.  If it's already a  DVD you might be OK - the DVD player itself probably won't have any problems, but I'm not sure about her TV - I don't know how common dual standard TVs are in the US.  But then, she could play it on her PC if the TV wasn't an option.
