  1. no. but it would get him another big $$$ fight and respect from the fans.

  2. no it wouldnt, even if he does win, he should retire, what can be better than to retire with a win over calzaghe?

  3. Yeah... I mean Calzaghe is the #2 in the world right now so if u beat him u become a p4p champ again... but dat doesnt mean taht jones will be #2 right away.. he has to keep on fighting and with respected fighters...

  4. No more.  He's old and way past his prime.

  5. The answer is a definite yes. If you beat the 2nd rated fighter P4P you've got to be in the top ten.

  6. no, but in his prime if he didn't have viginitis and would've have fought everybody he would be my fav. of all time, but he was too cocky and wouldn't fight calzaghe back then, even though I think he would've won.  he should beat him then fight palvik or dawson or tarver, *** it all of them, then maybe.

  7. I don't think so, because I feel he would still need to prove himself against another big name, outside of Calzaghe. Though his victory over Trinidad was nice, Trinidad was coming from over a two and a half layoff from the ring and having his first fight at light heavyweight, therefore I can't count Trinidad too much. I think he would need to beat Tarver or Dawson and look impressive doing so.

  8. I think it would definitely be a good argument since Joe Calzaghe beat Bernard Hopkins and Hopkins is still in the pound for pound top 10. Jones only has those 3 blemishes on his record - although 2 were knock outs - the Glenn Johnson one a very scary one at that. The losses to Tarver came after a move back down to light heavyweight which some believe his body really didn't adjust. (Chris Byrd made that same attempt with similar results after being at heavyweight for a while.) Something wasn't right in both cases. If you beat the man in my opinion you become the man. Roy was the man for a long time and Bernard became the man when he beat Tarver. Calzaghe then beat Hopkins and became the man. If Roy beats him we have made a full circle and it would give Jones Jr. an excellent exit from boxing back on top where he belongs.

If I know Roy Jones though he will want to fight Kelly Pavlik and perhaps Glen Johnson again before he calls it quits though.

  9. I think so.  It got Margarito in there when he beat Cotto.

  10. Like Antonio Margarito, Jones doesn't have the age. Even if he wins, it doesn't matter because he is decrepit and is timeworn.

  11. Yes it would. However, Roy is talking about moving back up to heavyweight and taking on Klitschko should he get past the Welshman. Should he do that, and miraculously win, his legacy would be mostly restored, because then, and only then, would the taste of the two brutal KOs to Johnson and Tarver be erased.

  12. It would put him a fight away, If Jones beats Calzaghe like I believe he will, Jones would need to take another fighter like Tarver and finally beat him again.

If Jones beats Calzaghe, Tarver and Johnson that would put him in the pound for pound rankings. A win over Chad Dawson would rank him high, but as his age no matter what he does at this point he could never take # 1 spot from Pacquiao.

But Jones is almost 40 and his reaction time is not what i used to be, unlike Ali Jones does not seem to be able to adapt and change his style so It would be a long shot to say he could get all those wins. Its possible, but not likely
