Would an 80cc bore kit fitted to a 50cc engine make it become a 130cc bike?

And if so would it be more powerful than a stock 125cc engine/bike as I want to add an 80cc bore kit to an aprilia rs50 and don't want to loose power but not buying a RS125 straight off.

  1. No.

  2. No.  When you put the 80cc kit on you throw the 50 cc piston and cylinder in the trash. Its not an additive process. You will of course make it faster than it was before and also make it ineligible to be registered as a moped.

Aside from how they tell, it runs a good deal faster so if you have a supposed 50cc engine and your are running 50 mph, they will probably pull you over. Cops are suspicious that way.

  3. That won't work.  You should just go buy a bigger bike, dude.

  4. No. A 80cc kit changes your engine from 50cc to 80cc. It's usually just larger bore cylinder and a larger diameter piston.

When you're done, you'll have a 80cc engine, 60% larger, but probably not 60% more power. For that you'll need a bit of retuning and a different (bigger) carburetor.

    Good luck.

  5. Nice thought but nope.

  6. No it would then be an 80cc...You are not adding a cylinder with 80 cc alongside the one with the 50 cc. YOu are just  increasing the existing volume of the 50cc cylinder out to 80cc...Boring out the cylinder form 50cc (interior volume ) to 80CC..

  7. sorry, but the math doesn't add up that way and nothing you do to a 50 is going to make it faster than a 125.  hope this helps.

  8. an 80cc bore kit would make it 80cc.

  9. Johnny hopping up an existing  motor is an expensive way to make power. A surer way is to trade up.  And .... no you won't have a 130cc bike after your experiment.
