Question:

Would an Alternative Fuel Put an End to Terrorism?

Terrorism came about because of resentment of the wealth of the U.S., and efforts to destroy its property and people. Added to this are the religious beliefs of the fundamentalist Islamics, who view us as a country meddling in their affairs, siphoning off their wealth, and bringing differing beliefs to their lands. The War in Iraq has emphasized that resentment.

If the United States could find a viable Alternative Fuel and cut off its dependency upon the Middle East, would terrorism eventually dwindle away? It is true that this would further impoverish some countries in the Middle East, but let's face it...the citizens of these countries are kept in poverty anyway, with the Sheiks and the rulers living in splendor. Would the creation of this Alternative Fuel help do away with terrorism?

  1. Thats a different way of looking at it.   Might work.   I would rather just not use their product so they cannot make any money off it.

  2. Yes because the IRA is totally concerned with fuel consumption.

  3. It would not end terrorism, which has many causes, but it would help.  We would be meddling less, but we would also be less beholden to certain middle eastern countries that help foster terrorism and would be better able to develop a consistent foreign policy that rewarded good actors in the region.  Right now, we are very generous with Saudi Arabia because of our oil interests, but the government there has no problem fostering hatred of the U.S. and terrorism against U.S. interests.  We would be able to take a stand against that kind of treatment and might be able to engender some change on the ground there.    We would also be viewed as less exploitative of middle eastern wealth if we could be energy -independent, which would take one coal out of the fire for would-be terrorists.

But I'm afraid that terrorism would not just dwindle away.  Plenty of people share the Guardian's crazy beliefs (the Ron Paul supporter who answered this question) that Israel is seeking world domination, which is just patently false and silly.  [People use the Israel/Palestine conflict as a big rallying cry, but solving that would not change the underlying resentment of the U.S. measurably]  And a lot of people are convinced that their God wants Islamic law and Islamic values to govern the world, and they see people in the U.S. as heathens who seek to destroy Islam.  People tend to  look for an "Other" to blame their societal woes upon, and the relatively-privileged U.S. is a very believable other, as worldwide consumers who are viewed as takers and not suppliers/contributors to the wealth and well-being of other countries.

  4. Alternative fuels will not "end" terrorism.  Terrorism has many causes, the economic ones are but a small part of it.  Additionally, alternative fuels will not ensure the end of OTHER economic injustices.

Right now, the best chance the US has for a reduction in terror is the creation/rise of a new superpower that pisses off the terrorists even more.

  5. No, Me Too.; Sorry. We need it because if we keep using fossil carbon as a fuel we won't have the basis for making plastics, electronics, many medicines etc.-- As someone said, it's not that simple. A basic belief  in radical Islam is their duty to bring about the apocalypse. Look up "al Sadar" (now and in the 1880s). Also "the Maudi " and "Army of the Maudi". The only people the s**+'a & Sunni hate more than each other are the Infidels (anyone who doesn't hold their beliefs). The problem in Sudan, Darfur, & Somalia is not political genocide, but religious genocide. Again--Sorry.  MC

  6. Oh of course it will. The crazy muslims will stop hating us if we just use nuclear power instead of oil. They have been saying that all along, but we refuse to listen to them.

  7. That along with several years of protectionist government would eliminate any threats of terrorism against the U.S.. They hate us becuase we meddle in their affairs, we back U.S. companies who s***w them over in business deals, we build bases in their land, and we support Israel no matter what. Our actual policy is to defend Israel no matter what the circumstances surrounding their conflict.

If the U.S. didn't back businesses who rob those nations, didn't seek to occupy their land with our own military bases, and stood with Israel when they were right and stood against them when they were wrong, then they wouldn't be in quite the hurry to call us the " Great Satan ." If we didn't want their oil, that might be possible.

That still leaves the Zionists that noone likes to mention. They also want to bring about what they call the Gog/Magog war which according to most will end with many dead and a global theocracy in Israel. You can read the prophecy in Ezekiel 38. Our own government is actually taking steps to make sure that the right countries are allied when this war breaks out. Congress is having prophecy experts come in and explain these prophecies and then acting accordingly.

Interestingly, many people think Iran and Turkey are two of the countries that will be involved in fighting against Israel and her allies during this war. After meeting with prophecy experts, congress passed legislation condemning Turkey for something that happened long ago and labeling Iran's elite military force a terrorist group. Also, Turkey is now under attack from a country that we still control....Iraq....and the war hawks are pressing for an attack on Iran.

As simple as it would be to solve all of this, it definitely will not happen. All sides are determined to bring about the fuflillment of end-time prophecy as they understand it and alot of people will lose their lives in another foolish war fought in the name of religion.

Our only chance of avoiding taking an active role in all of this is to heed the words of a man like Ron Paul and then to give him the opportunity to bring the U.S. back from the brink of disaster.

  8. No, but genocide against muslims would.

  9. yes

  10. No. Terrorism will always exist in one form or another. The funding may erode but the ideological position of America the Great Satan will exist. Better to find alternative energy sources for the sake of our planet. Fight terrorism by educating the youth in the Middle East. An uneducated, unemployed male dominated society is easy to persuade to extremists views. But an educated well informed employed society won't buy the lies.
