Question:

Would an accenting wall work?

We're painting my bedroom, and right now i'm looking at a light purple, almost grey, with dark wooden furniture (or something along those lines). Would a dark brown accenting wall look alright in the room, or would it just be better to have it all a more neutral colors and keep the darker furniture as the main point of contrast?

It's an upstairs room with a large window so it's well lit.

  1. I like accent walls.  Hang up the paint swatches and check them out at different times of days to see which colors would be best.  I don't know that I would paint a whole wall brown, but it's not my room, so it all depends on how you'd feel about it.  If it were me, I might do an eggplant/plum color.

  2. A dark brown wall might be a little too overwhelming since you're already using the dark brow furniture. The accent wall could be a variation of brown or it could serve as a way for you to bring in another color to your scheme.

Its good that there is a lot of light, but you're really looking for something lighter to contrast with the purple to even out the dark furniture you've picked out.

A good way to figure out what would work best is to get bunches and bunches of paint samples and compare them to the existing purple that you've already chosen.

    I hope I helped!

    good luck!
