in the book War of the Worlds, the ETs from Mars were superior intellect except they were defeated by germs from the common cold.  ETs could be different in many ways but not necessarily suitable for life on Earth.

Well we'd have to know them first.

I suppose there might be species out there that are more advanced than we are. And probably plenty less advanced, and maybe some comparatively equal.

If an alien managed to travel to earth he would obviously have some kind of sick powers we don't have because we can't go to other planets.  but he wouldn't be like superman, physics would still apply.  it'd probly just be really technologically advanced compared to us.
