Would an attractive woman have a good chance of being raped hitchhiking?

My friend thinks "only in certain areas" and i told him just about anywhere (this got sparked when we saw one a few days ago).

Rape is not about being "good looking".  Both you and your friend need to educate yourselves.

Rape has nothing to do with the individual. Children, men, old women, middle aged, young, attractive, not-attractive, all types have been victimized.  Rape typically has nothing to do with appearance so much as power and the want to hurt.  Anyone can be raped. However, for someone to be exposed to that danger does increase the risk.

I wouldn't say it would be a "good chance". The vast majority of people would not rape a hitchhiker. The problem is that a certain lunatic fringe would so it isn't worth the small risk. I don't think the chance of being raped is correlated to the attractiveness of the victim. It is more often a crime of opportunity.

Why risk it? I would never want my daughter to hitch, not only rape but murder. There are sick people out there...be careful and smart.

A rapist generally doesn't rape someone because of attractiveness. Its usually about control, and humiliation.
