Would any1 be able to discuss the suitability of oil seed rape as a replacement for sugar beet?

A sugar beet produces sugar and rapeseed produces  cooking oil. In North america rapeseed has been hybrid to be canola.  They are used ina crop rotation each crop being grown on the same peice of land about once every four years. As a disease prevention method mostly. That is the only way I know  they replace the other as they are totally different plants and yield different prodouct lines

The previous responders hit on it.

Growing rapeseed instead of sugar beet in a field?

As in what grows best. and for highest profit.

Or as biofuels?

rapeseed is for cooking oil, could be bio diesel as well.

sugar beet for table sugar, can ferment into ethanol.
