  1. Eventually, someone will beat it...and that someone is most likely going to be Usain Bolt himself. Perhaps Powell might do it first, who knows. I've known about Bolt since he was a junior in the Caribbean, where he was running 100 meters in 10 seconds at just age 15! I knew it was just a matter of time before he made his world appearance. And there are other young athletes in Jamaica that will make their own appearance on the world scene in the next few years.

Jamaica's going to dominate the sprints for many years to come, because they truly have natural talent and speed in this area. The Caribbean in general has been doing extremely well for several years - countries like Jamaica, Trinidad, the Bahamas, Barbados, St. Kitt's, Antigua - they have all had athletes competing and advancing through the preliminaries for several years despite not having the same resources as the bigger nations. And if that wasn't enough, I've noticed that many of the other athletes competing in sprints for England, Europe and the US have Caribbean roots somewhere in their family history. It's truly amazing.

  2. yeah..ill be able to surpass him

  3. Actually, Tyson g*y of the United States has run the 100-meter in less time than Bolt -- 9.68 seconds to Bolt's 9.69 seconds.

Tyson's time isn't eligible for world-record status because he had a strong tailwind... interesting fact.

I would take Bolt over g*y in a race any day, but I thought you might be interested to know that it CAN be done -- under the right circumstances.

  4. Records are made to be broken.I'm sure as training evolves the record will be broken.I would guess that it will hold up for years though.

  5. Usain Bolt is a freak of nature because he's tall and has long legs but can move his legs as fast as a shorter man. He's the only one who I can think of who can break his own record. I think it will be easier to eclipse Michael Phelps performance than Usain Bolt because they keep adding so many new events in swimming, and because it's easier to win tons of medals because many of the races are redundant in swimming.

You almost have to wonder if Bolt can perhaps even run 8.99 on a perfect day with a tail wind.

  6. It will be surpassed when a new PED is developed (Not say Bolt is on any) or some new break in technique or technology. That's why seeing a record from 50 years ago still standing is remarkable.

  7. His record definitely will be broken.  Only thing is, no one can say when.  Years ago, there was a running back for the New York Giants named 'Mercury' Morris.  He broke the 10 second time for the 100 meters.  It's taken about 30 years to bring the record down by less than 1 second.

I even remember when Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile.  Now this happens regularly.

Yes, you can be sure Usain Bolt's record will be broken.

  8. NO

  9. No record will ever stand for ever, that is a promise. Even Flo Jo record will be broken some day

  10. I'm sure it will be, but not by him because he'll be too busy showboating. LOL.

  11. Definitely. But not for now. Maybe in the next 5 or 10 or maybe even 20 years! Who knows. But for sure, someone will surpass it one day. Trainings and practices are getting more intense for athletes.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that Usain Bolt is a lousy sprinter. He's an amazing one! But, as time comes, trainings will change, records will be beaten and then, Usain Bolt will just be another history like other athletes Bolt surpassed.

  12. well i dont know becuz michael johnson's record went a long time w/o being beaten and everyone thought he was so good he was on steroids or a different planet. who knows? in the future there's a good chance of someone beating that record.

  13. It is only .05 faster then Powell's time at the moment.  If Bolt doesn't set it faster, I think it could be broken within a couple years.

  14. I saw the race................. he will beat it easily himself.

  15. Nyakstar

there has to be a limit, there WILL be a record that will last for ever.
