Would anyone know if the world was close to ending?

Space and all that stuff is very strange so how do we know tomorrow that earth won't end?

If some extraterestrials could travel faster than light then they could have told us of a supenova explosion whose light is now about to reach and burn up our planet.

We don't - but all the evidence indicates that we have about 5 billion years before "space" does something unexpected.  (To be specific, the sun will become a red giant.)

We don't know. The world could indeed end tomorrow, or in a month, or a year, or it could survive until our sun burns out in 200 million years or so. It could end prior to that if we are involved in the collision between the milky way and Andromeda galaxies. There are indeed lots of strange things that could happen; however, I would not live my life that way. It is probably a good idea to plan for the future but live life for today. I mean after all your personal world could end at any time so live well, love much, and enjoy the process.

Just measure the distance between the thumb and button of a worker at a missile silo who answers only to the government and same goes for the opposing country. Divide by 2 then add time it takes for that worker to respond to a phone call giving the orders to push the button.
