What if everyone refused to buy gas from the largest companies Esso and Shell. With luck maybe they would notice the loss of business and drop their prices then the other companies would have to do the same. If everyone got involved maybe we could do something. Gas her is $1.30 a litre.

  1. since you have no clue as to how the gas industry works, let me clue you in. the various companies dont run their own refineries, they buy the fuel from them. this fuel is run through pipelines to tank farms, and the tanks are filled based on contracts with the refineries. now if the world boycotted shell for example, shell still has to buy gasoline from the refinery because of their contract. but since shell isnt selling any fuel at the retail level, they will resell the fuel at the wholesale level to other companies, usually places like convenience stores and no name gas stations that have no affiliation with a major oil company, and make their money that way. in fact they would even sell to exxon or sunoco or any other company and still make their money on the gas, and we would pay even higher prices at the pump. sorry but boycotts dont work.

if you want lower gas prices, get congress to allow oil dripping in the anwr, the continental shelf, north dakota, the gulf of mexico, and where ever else there is oil. and get the congress to reduce the number of required fuel blends from 40+ to about 2-3. add refining capacity. start making synthetic gasoline from coal. all this will drop gas prices not only here in the US, but around the world. we may never see under $2 per gallon of gas again, but we can see decent gas prices again, and for a long time to come.

  2. I think that everybody would like to pay less for gas, but i just don't get it, they are still making cars that need oil and fuel to run, instead of implementing the new technologies to be oil independent

  3. I'd be happy to pay $3.50 for gas instead of the $3.90 I have to pay now!!~~~~

  4. It would take a lot to cause them to notice.

As the first person said, it's not just the gas companies (Chevron, Shell, Exxon, etc), but the suppliers and refineries who are to blame.

If the suppliers saw a large enough decrease in US consumption, they would just decrease what they export to the US and send that to another country that has higher demand.

Decreasing what they export to the US (in theory) would reduce supply and cause prices to go up or at least stay the same.

  5. well actually they are are experiencing the same thing their supplier had raised the prices on them so did the suppliers supplier so it wont go down much see they get it from the USA and the USA gets it from over seas and they are charging a high amount cause they hate us.

  6. you must live in the USA to get petrol that cheap in rural Australia its $1.45 per litre but as you talk in litres you may come from Australia as its still gallons in the states and they pay about $4.50 per gallon

  7. You're dreaming.

  8. No i want to pay prices at the high rate that they are now...wtf do you think we want!!!! Do you really think that we want to pay these exorbitant prices...I don't care abnout your plans how about we just go and stop them from moving the fuel rto the stations...or everyone just steals the fuel. Maybe that will get the message accross...LOSER!!!!!

  9. im happy with where gas prices are.

Course, I only drive when its unavoidable. I ride a bike to the grocery, and anywhere else in town i need to get, or i walk.

i wish gas would go up more so less idiots would be on the road with the gas guzzling SUV's and the road rage and the pollutants.
