Would anyone reccomend a Hifonics XXV Thor amp for Type X subs?

Im looking at the Hifonics XXV Thor and the XXV Colossus. While I heard the Brutus series are drastically overrated, I have heard that the XX and XXV series are actually underrated. I'm going to be pushing 2 12" Alpine Type X's, so Id just like to know if they are overrated, and if so, by approximately how much?

Thanks!

  1. hifonics amps are quite inefficient....they use a ton of power and you don't get much back in return. the power they produce is quite dirty as well. if its not too late, check out some amps by zapco, cedance, usamps, memphis, sundown,...these amps produce far less distortion and are much more efficient....being so you also don't need as high of a power rating. (example: my 1200w cadence A7 has the same output as a hifonics brutus XX which does 2500w...within 0.02dB)

from what i do know is hifonics are rated for about what they put out...+/- ~100w.

  2. they are slightly overrated. the bxi2607d is a 2600 watt amp...on a good electrical you can expect it to push 2000 to 2200 ish watts. they're a good bang for the buck

  3. All of the hifonics amps that i have used put out the rated wattage or more. I've honestly never seen one that was overrated. The only thing that I have had a problem with is the protection circuit on a BXi2008D. It was "stuck"on. The amp itself was fine. But the protect light stayed on. All I had to do was send it out. They actually fixed it for free.
