  1. Demons trying to strangle me - I would try to scream but no sound came out for a long time.

As a teenager I dreamt of a ufo which hovered next to my balcony. However the one recurring dream was being unable to move and being strangled. It's very scary.

Edit -no that was not the hallucination - it was different. I had a demons hands around my throat and I was screaming out "Jesus" repeatedly so it would let go of me. I have had these dreams since childhood and Im middle aged now.

  2. Wen I was a child till I was a teenager..my sleep paralysis wd always be followed by scary hallucinations..where an unseen entity wd try to overturn my bed...or pull my limbs...i wd try to scream bt i cd not...

i still get sleep paralysis bt nt the sacry hallucinations anymore

  3. It was the night of Hurricane Katrina. I slept in my sister's room b/c it has less trees by it. There was a grayish black figure standing in her doorway. Actually I think it was 2 figures, the man was holding a child's hand (both black figures) but I was fixed on the man. The figure did not seem negative but I was still scared of what I was seeing. I could not move no matter how hard I tried and that was terrifying.  It took me a little while to realize it was only a dream.

There have been quite a few times I have experienced this dream-like half awake and paralyzed thing, I assume it is some form of sleep paralysis.

  4. They - are - just  - dreams: nothing more nothing less.

phew, that was a tough one work out...  *roll eyes*

EDIT: Deenie - you keep shape shifting - how on Earth do you expect us to keep up with who you are? *smiles*

  5. One of the most comprehensive books on this topic is by University of Pennsylvania Professor (Emeritus) David Hufford (see links below). Hufford's research shows that it is a surprisingly common experience; about 15 percent of people across all cultures have reported this type of frightening event at least once in their lives. Hufford concludes, after considering all of the conventional neurological and psychological theories, that the experience is anomalous. But whether the "spirits" often reported during these experiences are genuinely independent entities is uncertain.

  6. I had sleep paralysis many times in my 20's and 30's and I only had one hallucination during a mid-afternoon nap when I was about 25 years old. I was fighting the paralysis when I truly saw a large unknown to me male come into my bedroom and hold me down and begin to rape me.I could not feel it, but I SAW it all and thought it was real. I woke up later and realized that it was all part of the sleep paralysis. I am telling you it was the most terrifying thing. I learned over the years that when the paralysis comes on to just go with it and that even though I felt that I was really going to die, to keep telling myself that I wouldn't. I got to the point where I could feel it coming on very early (a slight tingling all over) and to stand up and walk around before it could take me over too much. I'm 50 now and haven't had an episode in at least 10 years and hope I DON'T ever again

  7. As i have stated before i believe some sleep paralysis is causes by a rare type of epilepsy.Your dreaming and you suddenly go static like the static on a TV screen. You wake up in shock with your body buzzing.A rare Type of epilepic fit during sleep.

  8. The feeling of being squished like there is somebody or something on top of you.  Occasionally you may think, and in some ways I am STILL convinced that I DID see something.  Not clearly, because obviously I can't see in the dark, but I saw a solid dense form, and it was trying to smother me....another time it was trying to strangle me, or it would just be standing there watching.  It was absolutely terrifying as a child, and thankfully as an adult I've only had two occurances, but I have not seen a form, or even sensed someone there.  The feeling is akin to waking up from a surgery and being unable to move, wondering if you're dead and stuck in your body.

  9. Once I saw a demon jumping up and down on my husband's chest.  I tried to reach up for my Bible to whack it over the head, but I couldn't move.

Now the freaky thing is that my husband developed unexplained chest pains shortly after this episode.  Doctors never did figure out what was wrong.

  10. I have experienced this but beleive I was actually visited by a spirit.  This was confirmed be a spiritualist.  I felt numb ness that crept up my body starting at my feet.  I could not move, sit up or scream and I saw a figure in the corner of my room.  It freaked me out.

  11. something evil near my bed like a demon or something? i was scared sh itless!

  12. You seem confused. During part of your sleep cycles, motor neurons are not stimulated and so your muscles do not receive any instruction to move (you are paralyzed). A simple way of explaining it is that you do not at out your dreams. Sleep paralysis is when you wake up but the paralysis persists for a few seconds. It's a sucky feeling... and it definitely is not a hallucination.

  13. i woke up paralyzed just open my eyes saw red mist not on me but high up on the ceiling exped them every night or i would start to fell asleep i would start to shake and images would pop in my head not the good ones it was devastating for me Dennie it took two years and half to realize and accept what was i experiencing and since i know i don't experience sleep paralysis any more nor wake up with fear i find my own medicine inner stringent OMG TO STARFALL i saw same thing on my husband chest my astral body was merging with physical and my physical eyes opened to see this ugly ape dwarf thing on my hubby's chest it noticed me then vanished like cigarette smoke i thought i was dreaming until next day when my hubby told me that he had a worst nightmare ever he said it was heart surgery while he was awake in his dream he told me he was very scared i instantly new what i saw was true
