Question:

Would bass eat shrimp?

today i was fishing in my grandparents pond for catfish using shrimp on a catfish hook. (not treble) i let it sink....i got a tight line and i waited. i got some hits but never caught a catfish...i dont even know if there are catfish in the pond! so what do you think was hittin it? catfish or another fish?!

  5. Sure, bass will eat shrimp. Where I live at, there is a species of shrimp called a fresh water shrimp, or as we call them locally, grass shrimp- at times the bass we catch are full of these tiny shrimp.

  7. I agree with greenbean, it was probably some bluegill. That really isn't bass' natural foodsource, but there is a chance.

  8. Pretty much all fish will eat shrimp and in case you aren't aware of it there are freshwater shrimp. If you are gonna fish the shrimp again, downsize the hook & see what you catch. Good luck.
