  1. No, definitely not.  Why would they discriminate against someone for being overweight?  Are you asking this because they are a poorer country, and there might not be as many overweight people living there?  Well, anyhow, just let me tell you that from my experiances, it shouldn't matter what size you are.  They are very kind people.

I'm glad I was able to help!  (:

  2. It may not stop you from getting a job, but you will be "reminded" that you are not slim.  I don't know why the first respondent referred to Korea as a poor country.  South Korea is modern.

  3. No, Finding a job will not be a problem for you at all.  As long as you have the qualifications, they will gladly take you.

I have been in Korea for two years and I am a relatively skinny guy.

However, Korea is  obsessive and everyone will let you know exactly how they think you look.  I have some overweight friends here and they are told on a daily basis that they are fat, and need to  do something about it.  Even for myself, Koreans tell me that i need to lose weight by poking at my stomach.  (I am 6 foot and weigh 165 pounds).  The kids will let you constantly know even more.

However, don't let this deter you from coming.  To Koreans, this is not an insult, but rather an observation.  As long as you don't become too self conscious about it, and realize these comments are quite superficial, you won't have a problem. I know my heavier friends really enjoy it here, and despite being called fat on a regular basis, you can have a great relationship with your Korean co-workers and will have no problems with making Korean friends.  If you don't let the verbal comments get to you, you will have a great time.
