  1. No because there will be a lot less boxers.  Boxers is already upderpaid already.

  2. I don't think it's good.  But a better idea I can think of is, the winner getting the bigger price.  Both of them paid, but the loser gets the smaller purse.

  3. Absolutly not...  Why would you want to get your brains out and know if you lost you would not get paid...   Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.  Grant M in Pa

  4. Yes,  That would be nice in an absolute world.  Even I would like to get paid if beaten.  Who's going to pay for my medical bills?

  5. Good question but I don't think thats the way it should be.  When a guy does it for a living he needs to pay the bills even when he loses a fight by a tight Split Decision.  For example I couldn't imagine Pacman getting paid and not Marquez for that amazing fight.

  6. The fights might be better, but the sport as a whole would suffer. Does only the top guy at your office get paid?

  7. no it would not be. even the loser of the fight still has to provide for his family. the it is done is the winner gets the bigger part of the purse.

  8. Well, both fighters deserve to get paid for the training and the hard work that they do, but something similar to what you speak of was tried in the TV show "The Contender."  During the finale of season three, both fighters were guranteed a certain amount of money, I think it was like $250,000.  However, only the winner would get the $750,000.  Thats a half million dollar difference between the winner and the loser, and one can argue that the incentive for both guys to win was heightened because even though they were guaranteed a good amount of money, they fought like h**l to get the total prize money.  The result was a great fight between Sakio Bika (winner) and Jaidon Codrington, and I think they both fought harder knowing that half a million was up for grabs.  In short, all fighters should get paid, but I think its a good idea to have the winner get the lion's share of the money.  This would not work with the bigger name guys like Oscar De La Hoya or Floyd Mayweather, Jr. though because they would always demand to get more money than their opponent because they're the bigger names.

  9. The winner does get paid.

  10. i think the winner should get paid more then the loser and maybe they should get a bonus if he knocks his opponent out

  11. no because boxers train for 2-3 months just to get in top shape! they have to pay their trainers their sparing mates, money for food, lodging and allowance! and if they dont get paid how will they rise up and fight again? it doesnt makes sense to work hard, risk your health and get beat up in front of tens of thousands of people and walk away with IOU's...
