  4. it adds more usable work time in direct sunlight it was originally designed when we were an agricultural society so it's kind of outdated now. and no it doesn't magically do anything or make energy or shorten the night, it just means that at 6am now its dark make that exact moment in time 7am and walla its light out, now get to work plow boy there's cows to milk
