Question:

Would doing laps around the pool help me with Cross-Country and Track ?

I am a runner but sometimes i do get knee problems and shins so i was wondering that before season starts. If i exercise in a pool would it help me improve my stamina, speed and so on for Track

  1. Of course, it would provide a cardiovascular workout (heart and lungs) which helps running greatly


  2. Yea I swam a lot this summer training for Cross Country and it really helped with my endurance and speed. But running is still better training than swimming.

  3. Swimming laps would help you in Cross Country and distance events in Track & Field, but it would hurt you in the sprints.  The muscles you develop in swimming would counteract against your running fast in the sprints.

    i used track to stay in shape from swimming!

    its different muscles, but the cardio is the same.

    it will help you!
