  1. Why would you think that?

My little Civic can drive at 30 in fifth gear all day long.

    good luck...

  2. YES AND NO. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT THE ENVIORMENT YOUR DRIVING IN IS. I MEAN FLAT ROAD JUST DRIVING NO, NOTHINGS GONNA HAPPEN TO IT BUT IF YOU'RE GOING UP A HILL OR SOMETHING IM PRETTY SURE IT WILL STALL OUT

  3. Your boder line on lugging the engine down. Fith gear is mostly an over drive gear for higher speeds.

  4. that solely depends on the vehicle and how much load you're placing on the engine. Flat road no a/c, no problem for most. The best rule of thumb for that, is the vehicle shaking, or is a rattling noise coming from the engine compartment? If it is, then that is the equivalent of a jackhammer effect on your main bearings and timing chain/belt in the engine and on your transmission, which will greatly shorten the life of those parts and increase maintenance costs.

  5. it wont hurt nothing! 5th gear is like overdrive in automatic.

  6. It depends on wether or not your car's revs are high enough at that speed to keep it from stalling or jerking.  All cars are geared differently, but I'm pretty sure my '08 Volkswagen Rabbit would be capable of driving 30mph in 5 gear (although I don't do this).  Traveling at 30mph in my car I'm usually in 4th gear unless I'm in heavy traffic and need power availble for speed fluctuations, in that case I keep it in 3rd.  But, like I said, it all depends on how your vehicle is geared.
