  1. Depends whether machines are networked or stand alone to a point - all the computers here are stand alone but go through one router, so same IP address.

  2. Hey,

Ya all the computers will need there own IP addresses irrespective of how small the office is. The IP addresses can be either dynamically created by the router or statically configured by the network administrator.

Every host on a network requires an IP address so as they can be individually identified, kind of like the way were given names.

Also, the router will have a single IP address which is used for the entire network.

  3. Within the office, all machines must have a different IP address.  If they connect to the Internet using a router, most likely the router assigns it's own external (public) IP address to all the traffic, and it does the job of deciding which packets go to which machine.

  4. no,they would all have individual IP addresses that are a sub-mask on the router, the router would have a NAT to show one external address to the internet

  5. No.

IP addresses are individual to each network card (which may be in a PC, a printer, a router, a switch, etc)

  6. yeah, an IP address is like a postcode for the computer, if the computers are i nthe same room they will have the same IP, and also they will most likely all be linked to the same connection
