Would going from Harvard to Dartmouth be a huge step down?

My buddy finished his undergrad at Harvard and is going to Dartmouth for grad school. Is this taking a step down?

  2. God no, students rank their experience at Dartmouth higher than their experience at Harvard.

No, it wouldn't be a step down.  Dartmouth is an absolutely great school that is also ivy league.  But it also depends on the program, especially for graduate school.  Harvard, for instance has a very strong law program, but Dartmouth has one of the top business schools in the country that is very well known, so that is also important to know.  Overall, both schools have amazing resources and offer a great education.  Also, it would probably be advantageous to go to a different school and have a really different experience.  Also, the area is amazingly beautiful and great for nature friendly people.
