  1. No. No way. Not even in theory.  


  2. On older cars not likely, but on newer cars OEM's have stated yes, and have published TSB's on it.

  3. never heard of oil making a car have a miss or low power so my answer is NO.

  4. YES, on many newer modern engines. I'll use Suzuki's newest XL7 as a example. Suzuki requires that synthetic or synthetic blend 5w30 be used. The engine has variable valve geometry and the components have very tight clearances. Anything too heavy or anything that might sludge up will cause the variable valves not to work resulting in poor performance, dieing at stops, check engine light and a host of other complaints judging from what I have seen come into our shop. This same technology applies to many of todays cars and trucks.

  6. No, but it might start smoking and using oil if the oil is too thin.
