  1. It depends on what kind of shape you're in now, but when I was younger that's pretty much what I did.  I started running to the park and back, then once around the park and back then twice and finally three times around the park and back to home.  At that time I realized that running is boring, and I gave it up.  But I was running 6 miles in about 45 minutes after a month.  I was about 25 at the time.  You sound like you're in HS, so I would take it easier.

Instead of working on that schedule, why not just try to run a little further everyday?

Also, there's no need to be embarrassed about working out with the team.  They all started the same way you did.  And by working out with the team, you'll get the benefit of good coaching and assistance with the inevitable aches and pains and blisters.

So I believe you would be able to get up to three miles a day in three weeks, but I advise against it.  Talk to your coach before you do anything.

  2. probably not. distance and endurance takes a long time to build up. if your body is not used to the conditions it will take longer than 3 weeks. instead try aiming for 2 miles. 1 miles the first week, 1.5 miles the second, and 2 miles the third. it's a more reasonable goal since your body will be adjusting and your muscles will be sore (ice baths help).
