  1. no, outside you have to move yourself forward, on a treadmill, its easier since the "ground" moves for you

  2. If you do it, is the same. Which ones better depends on your likes. To be outdoor with people around or to be in a room with a TV.

  3. I run both. The days that I am short for time, its late or really bad weather I run the treadmill. I find that they both have benefits and disadvantages. The treadmill is great for all the listed reasons above and the fact that you can time/pace yourself. The great outdoors can't be beat because it is a true running experience! I think that I like the outdoor run because I feel like it gives me more of a workout. I don't run as far on the treadmill. try to use the one to compliment the other i.e. get my pace and style on the treadmill then keep that pace on the outdoor run.

  4. For some people the treadmill gets very boring and doesn't burn that much calories. Being outside would keep you going for a longer time and be more enjoyable.  Try going up and down hills not only flat roads to get muscle.  You could alternate between the two choices depends what you like more.

  5. Treadmills are one of my favorite inventions.  However I use mine as an alternative, like in bad weather.  Outdoor training is a much better workout, but try to stay on softer surfaces (grass or trails).  Concrete and paved surfaces can eventually wear out your natural shock absorbers.  Try to find fun places to run, and switch up your environment periodically.  If you can find a friend to run with, do it.  Good luck!
