my parents become really mean as soon as i turn 18 and give me an ultimatum, either leave the house or start paying rent and utilities, food and what not. basically i become on my own, with that in mind i only make about 5 grand a year and would not be able to afford to pay all this AND pay tuition, yet i want to better myself to become a productive memeber in society. in such a case would i qualify for a grant from FAFSA?

  1. You would receive financial aid. I would recommend going to a community college to start because its cheaper. I get a pell grant every semester for about 2gs and only use $700 at the most for the semester and I get a nice refund ck a month after school starts from the remainder of the 2gs. If its a pell grant you never have to pay it back. One rule is you must be full time student to receive full amount if not you get half and you must keep a 2.0 GPA.

  2. If your not 24 married or have a child they go by your parents income even if you dont live with them.  So if they make a good amount then no you cant.

  3. it depends on how much your parents make and maybe your GPA in high school... apply for Grants or student loans. this will help you to pay off for your college. remember loans need to be paid back. so apply for grants first~

  4. You should.

  5. im not sure what fafsa is but, you should be able to get a grant.  i got one when i went to college. and my grandmother only made like 27,000$ 15 yrs ago.

  6. im sorry to tell you.......although what that lady said may not have made any sense to you.....she's right.

you are dependent on your parents and need their tax information until you have kids or turn 24 EVEN if they wont give you any financial support.

but sometimes you can find a way around it. just call the financial aid office at the school you want to go to
