Basically the requirements for entry to the Garda Siochana(Irish police)are insanely high(they have only taken on Irish post-grads and foreigners for the last two years and i would be 27 before i actually i earn a full wage)and i really want to be a copper, seeing as both my father and grandfather were in the police, and i want to keep the tradition alive.

Currently i have no criminal record, misdemeanors or otherwise.Im quite athletic and have just finished my Leaving Certificate(the irish equivelent of the UK's A levels)and i have got 4 honours but i failed Maths:(

  1. usually maths is the main thing they look for BUT its not the end of the world.

you will have to sit a test before you do anything. its just a general test for maths and english etc.

once you pass then you go to a second interview and if you pass that then you go off to the training centre to learn how to be a police officer.

  2. You'll have no problem at all providing your either black, g*y or female, if your not, don't bother applying.

  3. Basicly foxy's answer above is correct.... They favour Black, g*y, Ethnic over any1 else. Its called Positive Discrimination and it sucks. Oh and if you have debt your buggerd. Thats what happend when i applyed.

  4. There is no reason why not. Have a look at the link below. If you don't trust the link, just type in the URL address. Good luck.

  5. You should be able to Yes.

    I don't see a problem.

  6. The requirements for the English police are thus:

5 GCSE's or equivalent (inc Maths & English)

    Physically fit

Absolutely no idea, and no chance of ever getting any idea, about how capitalism really works.

Fortunately, for the ploice, the vast majority of people fall into that last category.

  7. You are a good candidate for the British cops.
