  1. You would wright, 8i. The i means imagineary number, because you can never do the sqare root of a negaive number.  


  2. negative sqrt is imaginary ... you would probably want to write i sqrt(56)

    So the correct way to write this is  i sqrt(56)    <<<<<

    If you care this can be simplified.

    56 = 4 x 14.  sqrt(4) = 2

    So it can also be written as 2i sqrt(14)   <<<<<

  5. rt(- 56) is not a real number.

  6. sqrt(-56) = sqrt(4)*sqrt(14)*sqrt(-1)

    = 2isqrt(14) since sqrt(-1) = i
