The concrete around our small 12,000Gallon pool is shifting and cracking. Someone said they can fix the problem and build a wooden deck, but husband and I are going to sell property in another year and don't want to "devalue" the house.

  1. it will not devalue the house by having an in-ground pool and wooden deck.  But since you will be moving out of the house in a year, the main question is whether you will recover the cost of when you sell.  With the market the way it is, you could be in a difficult situation, it is likely that you will not recover that cost, but will you be able to sell the house in its current condition.  If it is up to me, I wouldn't do it, if the house does not sell within a year, then fix up the pool.
