Assuming it has been well taken cared of, its for sale locally for $5000 and it has a cummins with a manual tranny. I want a cheap truck that I can daily and also use for work for years to come. What would be the ups and downs? Input?

  1. the old saying that diesels last forever isn't that true ,that's a lot of miles for any truck to have on it,i think if i was you id pass on it,its going to be time for it to need some major work done to it before to long, dodges are good and the cummins diesel engine is one of the best on the market, but they do wear out,and this one is getting close to that point, good luck.

  2. Well, diesels can run forever if they are serviced, but I think I would pass on this one. 5000 grand is too much for that truck but you could see if you could talk them down. The reason I say I would pass on this truck is because you said you intended on using it daily and for a long time. This truck has too much risk factor for how much use it has already had. From rear ends, to transmission rebuilds, to engine work. It would probably run you more than what you payed for the truck in the first place. I would pass on this one. Good luck.

  3. The 5.9 liter Cummins diesel is one of the best and longest lasting engines ever, but that is still a ton of miles.  I would never buy a vehicle that had that many miles on it if I wanted to drivie it for years to come.  Just my opinion
