  1. A rental car will be driven hard by the renters. However if the price is really good then I would not hesitate in buying one.

  2. get it inspected by an outside shop or dealer. in my expirience the cars are usually ok, most rent a car places only have them a year or two then get the new line.  I work at a Cadillac, Buick, Hummer,GMC dealer and inspect the cars from Enterprise RAC.  99% of the time they are perfectly fine.  The only things that they usually need are brakes and other consumables like wiper blades, and that sort of thing.  they are serviced on time because they have to be or their warranty is voided.  they are in better shape than cust cars especially the interiors becasue they are always cleaned.  their are exceptions to the rule but most times they are ok.  My mother in-law bought a Altima from dollar and i've never had to look at it, its been 2 years. and she calls me for EVERYTHING!!

  3. I would not  buy a rental car. The reason for this is usually rental cars are rode hard and put up wet, meaning people generally drive the fire out of them.  All though there is nothing wrong with the car now you do not know how it has been treated. Rental cars usually live a rough life because people don't treat them as nicely as they would there own car. A car that has had a rough life may cause you problems down the road.  If you are really into this car see if the rental company can provide you with service records. Take the car to a local mechanic you trust and have him or her thoroughly inspect it. Carfax is good but not perfect. If the car was involved in an accident and the rental company paid for the repairs out of pocket Carfax may not catch it because Carfax goes by insurance records. Look for things like unusual oder or rust spots, any gaps that don't line up correctly. When you have it inspected by your mechanic ask him or her if there was any frame damage.  Good Luck and best wishes.

  4. If the price is right, the mileage is not bad. Rental cars are usually pretty well maintained by the renting co. Just have it checked over by an independent mechanic. I once bought a car that had been leased, it was in beautiful condition and ran like a dream, if fact it was the best car I ever owned, had it for yrs.with no major problems. Had 34,000 mi on it when I got it, had 120,000 mi on it when I gave it to my nephew.

  5. I've bought 2 former rental cars, a 2000 Dodge Stratus and a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am. Both have been very good vehicles and we still are driving them.
