Question:

Would it be a good idea to equip my 04 Maxima SE with snow tires

I live out here in Calgary and currently my Maxima is equipped with stock low profile tires. It is front wheel drive 3.5L V6. It doesn't have traction control and I just bought it this year. Would I be able to get through the winter without snow tires?

  1. Find four inexpensive steel rims for mounting four snow tires on. While not pretty like your alloy wheels those will save you on ice and snow. Here is the thing running different size tires front and rear will cause the Anti lock brakes to think the wheels are spinning at different speeds and cause the brakes to ACT UP. I live in TEXAS so I get only one or two snow days a year. NO SNOW TIRES HERE. But do ask or go on line with the " tirerack.com " call the toll free number and they will help you with tire and rim selection. Up there in snow country good snow tires make a big difference.

I would find a winter car like a rusted out 1994 ford Taurus station wagon or jeep wagoner with snow tires to crash into the snow banks with.

  2. All vehicles are equiped with m+s tires (mud and snow). If you live in an area that has lots of hills, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the extra set of studded tires. I have 2 sets of wheels.  I replace my stock wheels with a nicer set, but my stock wheels have studded tires for  winter driving

  3. all weather tires would be ok
