Question:

Would it be a good idea to make boxing a mixed sport (with both genders)?

I one had an argument with a girl from this section who said that if they mixed boxing and have both women and men fight in the same division that women would have an equal chance to dominate, she went as far as saying that if they had mixed the sport earlier a woman would have probably defeated George Foreman and Mike Tyson (yes she said that...) i just wanted to know... what are your thoughts on this? Do you agree with this statement? Please explain.

  1. That's funny. Really?! Someone actually said that? She must have been  joking or high or something. Here is a list I found of just the physical differences between the sexes :

There are several very obvious differences between man and women and some of them include:

    1.    An average man is taller than an average woman.

    2.    Men have more bodily hair than women do, especially on the chest and extremities

    3.    Women are more sensitive to sound than men

    4.    Men are more then 30% stronger than women, especially in the upper body. Although many feminists cannot face this fact but females simply do not have the strength or endurance necessary to be effective combat soldiers for example!

    5.    The fact is that, on average- girls begin puberty changing approximately two years before boys.

    6.    Men have larger hearts and lungs, and their higher levels of testosterone cause them to produce greater amounts of red blood cells called erythrocytes

    7.    Differences in intake and delivery of oxygen translate into some aspects of performance: when a man is jogging at about 50% of his capacity, a woman will need to work at over 70% of her capacity to keep up with him!

    8.    Female fertility is decreasing after age 35. It ends with the menopause, but men are capable of making children even when they are very old.

    9.    Men’s skin has more collagen and sebum, which makes it more thicker and oilier than women’s skin

    10.    Men are approximately 20% heavier than females.

    11.    Women generally have a greater body fat percentage than men.

    12.    Hormonal changes are also very important! Men and women have different levels of certain hormones, for example- men have a higher concentration of androgens such as testosterone while women have a higher concentration of estrogens.

    13.    An average male brain has approximately 4% more cells and 100 grams more brain tissue than an average female brain. This is not connected with intelligence! Research points to no overall difference in intelligence between males and females. However, both sexes have similar brain weight to body weight ratios.

    14.    In men, the second digit is often shorter than the fourth digit, while in females the second tends to be longer than the fourth

    15.    Changes in vision - Men have better distance vision and depth perception, and usually better vision in lighted environments. Women have better night vision, see better at the red end of the light spectrum, and have better visual memory.

So there are some major things that pop out from this list. 30% stronger and with a higher muscle percentage. Those two facts are hard to over come even with a lot of skill. Besides have you ever seen a female try to parallel park? Ouch that stings, just like a fist to your face. Which females will feel more pain as they are more sensitive.  Why are you crying? It's OK, here's some ice cream and I put on s*x in the city for you. All joking aside a male and a female with the same strength, fat ratio, height and training might be a good fight...if groin kicks and nipple twist are allowed by the rules.... and the dude is blind fold and tied to a chair. JK.

  2. emmm with the b***s being on the chest....no

  3. That's a bad idea.

I would venture to say that even if you matched the male and female, pound for pound...he would still be better equipped to win the fight...excluding cheap shots like kicking him below the belt.

Typically...Men have more muscle mass and are fueled with testosterone.

I sure wouldn't want in on a boxing match with a man.

  4. I don't think that's a good idea at all! Men are physically much stronger than women and they fight differently, so it wouldn't be a fair or equal fight. Most men couldn't bring themselves to hit a woman in the same way they might hit a man, so the woman would probably win simply because he let her. I think whoever said that needs to remember that equal and identical are very different concepts. :)

  5. if the weights/heights/build sizes were equal there would be a chance for a woman to win.

  6. Its quite simple really....men are the stronger s*x therefore it isn't a good idea.  It goes against the nature of most men to use their full strength against a woman.  He must either beat her or let her win....it would be an awkward lose lose situation for the man.

  7. No your friend is completely wrong. I am not going to lie to myself and say I women boxer can beat Mike Tyson! Yeah it's possible but not likely! Women are the weaker s*x why would you do that. Although I am not against it, it will be kind of weird to watch.

  8. yeah i believe what guys can do girls can do better

  9. No, it would be cruel to make boxing a mix sport the men would not stand a chance women would rule all the division they could also defeat all the heavyweight champions including iron mike Tyson, Mohamed Ali George foreman Joe Frazier, I must also  confess to you people always say I am a daydreamer,

  10. Even if we put a woman and a man who seemed fairly evenly matched (meaning same height/weight/body fat%), the man would still be stronger. George Foreman had superhuman strength and was a genetically-gifted legend. Now, a female boxer with George's same superhuman genetics would be considerably weaker, this is because of simple biology. Those same great genes don't get as much juice in a female body as they do in a male body. I'm not saying its not possible, but....

  11. Of course, they will all be separated into their own weight divisions, but even if they were to do that, physiologically speaking, men much MUCH more muscle than women.  Unless these women take anabolic steroids or something, there's no way that the woman will be stronger than the man (assuming, of course, both the men and women are in good physical conditions for boxing).  That automatically gives a HUGE advantage to men, but I guess if you paired up a completely inexperienced male boxer with a veteran female boxer, a woman just might be able to beat a man.

  12. h**l yes!

    sweet shades by the way...

  13. I don't think the world is ready for that yet. you have to think of it from a sexist point of view because the world is a bit sensitive. women and men in the same ring wouldn't look right because it would be promoting violence among mix sexes (men beating women) and beside the muscle boundness on men is greater than it is in women, not to say there isn't a women out there who can't kick a guys butt. but still that's why the men in professional fighting are in professional fighting because they are no joke!... i hope i answered your question....

  14. This question was asked of Martina Navratilova  about Tennis. I believe the same principle applies.

She explained in summary that the fame she acquired as 9 times Wimbledon champion was only achievable because she was against other women, therefore her superior fitness and strength allowed her to dominate her sport.

She went on to say had she been in a mixed event she would of been no more than a top amateur. because her strength would not give her any advantage.

I think it is even more a casing point for boxing and if you want further proof compare the 100 meter sprint times of the top males and females put them in a table and all the great female runners we have had over the years wouldn't even get a mention.

"Women's pride" may well end up being their undoing

  15. Why not.  My wife hits hard.

  16. No.

  17. Ha!

As long as the women fighting are feminists, it sure would be hilarious to see them get the sh*t beat out of them.

  18. LOL PWNAGE

  19. was she joking?

  20. I dont know but I think it would be fun to try.

  21. i guess so but no woman can match a mans physical strenght or power it even was reserched but there are some woman that are stronger than men so yeah they do got an equal chace

  22. Not a good idea.  Seemingly fit men, fighting their own gender, have been severely injured, even killed.  Pitting a man against a woman could easily compromise her ability to bear healthy babies among other life-altering injuries such as head trauma. Even if there were willing female contestants, there would be an outcry of public opinion at the first mauling.  No promoter, with any regard for his reputation and his money, would risk either in this endeavor.

  23. I think not..

  24. The thing I would question is the class division. I can see how women could dominate in, say, the welter weight division but for heavyweight......I can't imagine there are too many women filling out those requirements. I do think women, if given the chance, could compete and do just as well as a man. We do it all the time in martial arts.

  25. They should so feminist can be equal.

  26. This is funny. There is no way a woman would last. Men are faster and stronger than women.

  27. Yeha they should mix it.  Let the girls have a chance if they want.  But dont whine and complain when their tiny little arms dont compare.  They are not built the same way.  Thank goodness for steroids I guess.

  28. a good idea? probably not.

though im not saying women aren't capable of doing just as good or even better than men.

  29. She's talking ****. Just search for Woman's Muay Thai boxing champ. She wasted EVERY woman she went up against but she fought a guy from NZ (same weight class) and got owned in the second round. Therefore it is an empirical fact that at that level men will probably always crush a woman. Mixed fights are just embarassing to watch. The man wins and feels no satisfaction at all

    edit: or this
