about one year ago i partially tore my meniscus and acl in my knee during football practice and i was out the rest of the season. The specialist i went to see said that he thought since my growth plate were still open it would not be a good idea to operate but he thinks that with the proper work outs that i should be able to resume full activities (with a knee brace). Over time i noticed that my knee felt stronger and pain occurred less often. (occasional stinger is all that happens now) Its been about a year later and football season is starting again. I was wondering if i took ibuprofen, glucosamine, and fish oil at the same time the ibuprofen would reduce swelling and pain, the glucosamine would help with the meniscus and same with the fish oil. But i was wondering is that would be safe to practice and take those three products?

  1. i take lots o ibuprofen, have for years. if you don't have any stomach issues, you should be fine. do know, prescription strength ibuprofen is 800mg (the equivalent of 4 over-the-counter capsules/tablets). you might also enjoy taking the liquigel version of ibuprofen, it works in 15-20 minutes and is much gentler on your stomach.

taking all 3 together is not an issue. if you experience any nausea, try eating something small like yogurt or some crackers with your pills.

you might also want to try flax oil capsules instead of fish oil, same health benefits but no fish burps!

    feel better.

  2. Having had 3 knew surgeries and a knee issue for over a year now, I have been on anti inflammatory drugs since Jan and also take glucosamine and cod liver oil too. I have had no ill effects from this combination as the glucosamine and fish oil are natural procucts, its only the ant inflammatory thats the real drug. So i would say that this is a safe combination. Just be aware that taking ant inflammatories for a long time can lead to problems with your digestive system like cause stomach ulcers, but i've not had any issues so far and have been on quite a large dose of Naproxen for over 6mths.

  3. yes

  4. If you have asthma then you can not take Ibuprofen, but if you don't then you can. Glucosamine is good for your joints, so is Cod liver oil capsules. Also tinned mackerel fillets can help with your joints too.

    Good Luck. X :-)
