Would it be a waste of money to buy the 4th Ed. D&D core-books?

I already have ALL the 3.5 books in either Hardcover or acrobat file, And several games going (I DM). I already have the 4th edition digital copies, but is it worth it to switch over to 4th edition, or is it a waste of $100? I want the opinion of someonewho's already switched. No badmouthing D&D either, I came here for real advice.

  1. Probably the most important criteria is: are those you play with switching or not? If they're sticking with 3.5, no reason to be in a hurry to change. 4E is quite a bit different than 3.5 (not necessarily a bad thing) with (IMO) a stronger emphasis on party synergy, especially in combat. There should seldom be a time when a PC feels "There isn't anything productive for me to do right now" in a battle. Since they should have at least one thing they can do at any given time that can improve one of their allies' abilities somehow, even if they can't affect the baddie directly, they should be able to contribute somehow.
