Would it be advisable to take a suit, if I am a first year freshman at a university ?

by suit i mean dress shirt, tie dress shoes, and all that formal stuff

Yes, definitely! It's always good to have. A dark color would be best-something classic that you could wear to a black tie event if you had to.

You definitely should.  Never know what types of formal events you'll attend or who you'll meet.  Some Business Schools even require students to wear suits and ties at least once a week.  Good luck in school!

are you thinking about joining a fraternity?! they will require a nice outfit or two...

You should bring nice stuff regardless, because there might be a project or presentation that requires to to dress up- nice pants/shirt and formal shoes...
