  1. in that case since my childs father is illegal my child is an anchor baby.. i agree its when two people are here illegally& they have a kid

  2. the baby would be but the mom could be deported

  3. Nope

  4. Mom wouldn't be deported if Dad were the illegal.  That particular case is being fought in the courts right now.  A mom separated forcibly from her child by the US Government.

However, by definition, an anchor baby is a baby by which others in another nation can claim kinship and therefore obtain residency in this county.  If they baby is not used as for that, then no, it is not an anchor baby.  Note that "anchor baby" is a slur - the Immigration & Naturalization Service does not use it.  The marriage will not save the illegal however from deportation.

Note that extremely wealthy people from Britian, France, Monaco, etc., fly into our country solely to have children here so they will have the advantages of Citizenship.  (Per the Constitution - anyone born here is a citizen.)  But no one complains when the WEALTHY do this, just the poor.

The Gov't is working on reforming immigration, which would include this very problem, but of course in an election year, immigration reform (always equated with letting people in illegally or granting residency in popular opinion thought it only really means revamping the laws) has about as much chance of floating as a cinder block.

  5. no, that would be stupid of the illegal bc some one can not become a citizen bc he or she has kids in this country.  At least not until the child turns 21 and then the child would have to file for them to come over.

  6. NO! just a beautiful kid with a great natural tan.

  7. The only thing that resembles an anchor in that situation is the burden on the US taxpayer.

  8. NO, baby is American.

true meaning for "anchor baby" is went both parents are here illegally...

  9. Depends of where you are...

In the US, a Mexican giving having a baby will will her the sympathy of every bleeding heart liberal in the country and she's going to stay.

If it was reversed, the Mexican government would deport the woman and her child. Mexican law says that non-citizens are forbidden to own property in Mexico.

  10. No it's not because at least 1 of the parents is a US citizen
