I love the movie Gandhi, its rated PG, and i think it sends a great message. Is it too advanced though for the 5th grade mind?

  1. its a bad idea. think yourself in their shoe, would u like to watch gandhi at that age?

  2. It might be a little too advanced for them but you should go for it anyway because like you said it's a great movie with a great theme.

  3. I am a primary school teacher in England but do not know age in 5th grade?? Could ask your head/senior management

    Anyways when showing films

    1. Ensure school has license to watch DVD's

    2. Ensure all children are over the age rating of the film

    3. Consider religious issues with a film like Gandhi, will it offend anyone?

    4. If unsure use specific clips you have watched and checked for inappropriate material

    5. If in doubt don't do it

  4. of course if your learning about him but you have to send a permission note home to the parents of the children + i watched it in grade 7.

  5. Gandhi the movie has everything you mention but have you seen the running time, I doubt very much that year 5 students could sit through a film that lasts for so long. I hope this answers your question.

Just had a thought, perhaps you could show MAHATMA GANDHI making a speech, I'm sure year 5 could manage that, here are some links that should provide the material I have mentioned.
